Lashing Components

Loose fittings are those that are not permanently attached to the ship.

When using loose fittings, it is essential that the manufacturer’s instructions are always followed, especially when using fully automatic and semi-automatic twistlocks.

Here are some examples of loose fittings:

• lashing rod

It provides support for container stacks on deck and is used in conjunction with a turnbuckle.

Lashing rod resists tensile loads.

• extension piece

It extends a lashing rod when securing ‘high cube’ containers. Fit at the base of a lashing rod and connect to the turnbuckle.

• turnbuckle

It connects a lashing rod to a lashing plate or D ring. Turnbuckle resists tensile loads and is used to keep the lashing tight.
